Frequently asked questions
Answers to what clients ask us most often. If your question is not here, please call us.
Booking and appointments
How do I book an examination?
Appointments are made by telephone on 0944 140 121. We book every examination for an exact time, so you will not be kept waiting.
If you cannot get through, leave your details using the booking form and we will call you back.
How long is the wait for a preventive sports examination?
The waiting time is 1 to 2 months. If you need the examination for a school application or ahead of a competition date, please call well in advance.
What should I do if I cannot attend my appointment?
Please let us know in advance, so we can offer the slot to another client.
If you do not attend without cancelling beforehand, we will only offer you another appointment once the full price of the missed examination has been paid. If a coach or a club booked on your behalf, the discounted price will not apply to you.
Before your examination
How should I prepare for the examination?
Arrive rested — otherwise the results are not meaningful.
- Two days before, avoid any very demanding training session.
- The day before, take a rest day or train only lightly. Do not smoke, drink alcohol or eat heavy meals in the 12 hours beforehand.
- On the day, do not eat in the 2 hours before the examination.
Do I need to fill in a questionnaire before the examination?
Yes, before a comprehensive athlete examination, ergometry or spiroergometry every client fills in and signs the athlete questionnaire — questions about symptoms and heart conditions in the family, together with informed consent to the examination. It is not needed for spirometry on its own or for the basic anthropometric examination.
Download the questionnaire (PDF), print it and bring it with you already filled in — it saves time. The form is available in Slovak only. Copies are also available at the clinic, but filling one in there makes your visit longer.
For anyone under 18, a parent or legal guardian fills in and signs the questionnaire in advance.
What should I bring to the examination?
Documents: your identity card, health insurance card and medical records. For a comprehensive examination, ergometry or spiroergometry, also the completed, signed athlete questionnaire (in Slovak).
Also bring clean sports shoes, sports clothing (for women, ideally a swimsuit-style sports bra), toiletries, a drink and a light snack.
Can I come after an illness or a vaccination?
No. A sports examination cannot be carried out immediately after an illness — leave at least 2 weeks after finishing a course of antibiotics — or immediately after a vaccination.
If your state of health has changed, please contact us as soon as possible and we will rearrange your appointment.
During the examination
Is there a shower at the clinic?
Yes. You can shower after an exercise stress test — remember to bring your own toiletries.
From what age do you examine children?
We examine children from the age of 7 and from a height of 120 cm. Below that, the examination cannot be carried out reliably on the available equipment.
Prices and payment
How can I pay?
In cash or by card at the clinic. Payment by invoice is also possible by arrangement.
We are a private clinic and are not contracted with health insurance companies, so all services are paid for according to the current price list.
Will my health insurer cover the examination?
The client pays for the examination at the clinic — we do not bill insurers directly.
Some health insurers do contribute towards a sports examination through their benefit programmes. The claim is made directly with your own insurer, so check with them in advance whether you are eligible and what documentation they need.
Do you offer a discount for clubs and groups?
Yes. Preventive athlete examinations carry a reduced price (−€10) for groups of at least 30 people, paid in advance against an issued invoice.
Can I come outside consulting hours?
By arrangement, yes. An examination on request outside consulting hours (before 8:00, after 14:00) carries a surcharge of 100% of the examination price. The same surcharge applies to an urgent examination within 48 hours.
Children and schools
Does my child need an examination for a sports school application?
Yes. An application to take sports aptitude tests at sports-focused secondary schools and universities requires a mandatory examination by a sports medicine doctor — the Slovak forms call this “vyšetrenie u telovýchovného lekára”.
An examination by a general practitioner is not sufficient.
How long is the examination valid for entrance exams?
An examination is valid for 6 months. Plan your appointment so that the examination is still valid when the school asks you for it.
Does a parent need to come with the child?
Yes. Children and young people under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
The parent usually waits in the waiting room while the child is examined alone. So for a comprehensive examination, ergometry or spiroergometry, please have the parent or guardian fill in and sign the athlete questionnaire (in Slovak) in advance, so the child can bring it in.
